I’ve recently graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Comprehensive Design following two years in Ball State University’s Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning. Upon departure from design at an architectural scale, I began to focus on furniture and products.
My time in design school had a heavy focus on digital fabrication, diagramming, and physical modelling. Functionality and practicability came into focus while I lived in the mountains during my sabbatical, and when I returned to design school I became especially interested in design that is simple and sustainable.
Outside the studio, I have really come to enjoy ceramics as an artistic medium. I find it meditative yet consistently challenging and I love that clay makes you work on its schedule, taking time to approach each new step with fresh eyes. I also truly love hiking and being outdoors and will often reference “that time I lived in the woods” as being one of the most formative periods of my life. I’ve found that there is so much to learn from the world around us, and I try to bring that approach to my design work.
